How to Measure Foam Cushions For Your Sofa

Are you looking to measure foam cushions for your sofa? It's essential to get accurate measurements to ensure a perfect fit. Follow our easy step-by-step guide below:

For the most accurate measurements, it's best to measure sizes from your existing covers. Over time, foam cushions can become misshapen, so measuring them may not be reliable.

Measure both the front and back of each cover, as some cushions can vary in width from front to back. Pull the cover taut to ensure a good fit.

When measuring the depth of a cushion, measure from seam to seam. If you have a piped edge cover, measure between the piping. Order foam to the size of the cover border width and then add Dacron and stockinette for the best fit.

Never measure across the middle of a cushion, as it may have a domed top that can affect your overall measurements.

Fibre cushion create more loft than foam equivalents, We suggest adding a 2cm to the length and width of your cushion cover. We will take care of the loft just tell us the edge boarder depth required. A 7.5cm edge boarder on the cover would create a 15cm filled cushion at its  maximum Whereas a foam cushion with at 7.5cm would be 7.5cm at its maximum unless you add Dacron to provide extra loft.

While measuring from seam to seam is recommended, if the loft (thickness) of your cushion goes significantly over the seams, you may need to add additional depth to achieve a fuller fit. Although Dacron adds loft to the cushion (approximately 1cm top and bottom), it may not be sufficient if the depth rises significantly beyond the seams. If your current cushion has a domed shape that differs from our Sofa Cushion Foam templates, please contact us to discuss your requirements in detail.
